You just need an internet connection, and one of our supported browsers (Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2+, Safari 3, Camino 1.5+, Chrome), with javascript and cookies enabled.
We make every effort to make sure that your information is safe and secure. Our servers are managed by
Brightbox, in a UK data centre,
with security staff onsite 24/7 and CCTV. Backups are taken daily and offsite backups are always encrypted.
Swirrl has a small and trusted team, and since your data is our livelihood, we are highly motivated to take excellent care of it.
All accounts are password protected. Paying plans also allow you to choose who can access your wiki's information at a finer-grained level ('Advanced Permissions').
All our pricing plans use SSL (https) for encrypting information sent to our log-in and billing pages.
The
paying plans use SSL throughout the whole site.
Certainly. We can't guarantee that it will make it into the live version, but we are always keen to hear your suggestions and feedback (email us at
hello@swirrl.com).
If you have any special requirements which aren't covered by the hosted plans, please get in touch via
hello@swirrl.com and we can discuss your needs.
Yes. Your data is yours and always remains yours to control as you want. You can export data sets as CSV and RDF (xml), and we're working on other export methods. If you want any assistance with exporting your data,
please contact us and we will be happy to help.
We accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards only.
We charge monthly by credit card, in advance. When you upgrade from a free account to a
paying plan, you will be charged monthly on the
day of the month that you upgrade. Invoices are automatically emailed to you for each payment, and are also viewable by wiki administrators in the billing pages.
All credit card payments are handled by
SecureTrading, a reputable UK payment processor.
Swirrl does not store any credit card numbers: they are immediately transferred securely to SecureTrading.
Information sent to our billing pages (for all accounts) is encrypted using SSL (https), the same technology used by online banks.
If you change between the different paying plans, you will continue to be charged on the same day of the month, but your monthly
amount will change accordingly. i.e. When you upgrade you are upgraded instantly to the better plan, but you don't pay the higher amount until the next billing-date.
When you downgrade, you are downgraded straight away, but you don't pay the lower amount until the next billing-date.
If you downgrade from a paying account to a free account, or cancel your account, you won't be charged again.
No problem, you can change the credit card used for a paying plan at any time and your subscription carries on as before.
Swirrl is a month-by-month pay-as-you-go service so we don't give refunds. You are billed every month on the same day of the month. You can downgrade or cancel at any time, and you won't be charged again,
but we do not refund any charges already incurred.
No. You just pay monthly, in advance. The price is for a single wiki, based on your chosen
pricing plan. The price is the same regardless of how many users you have in your wiki.
There are no other fees of any kind.
You can enter content in many other languages, but for now the user interface is only available in English.
